Zoey Frank: Recent Paintings

Boundless in her command of narrative and perspective, Zoey Frank creates paintings which defy categorization, imploring the viewer to consider them outside of the art historical tradition which they so aptly reference. Drawing from a deep well of knowledge and with quotations ranging from the Old Masters, to the Post-Impressionists, and all the way through to the Abstract Expressionists, she depicts the every day - domestic interiors, radiators, musicians playing together at a porch gathering - with all the drama and dynamism of a grand history painting. Frank's artwork brims with rich details and layered constructs. An abstracted blur carries the eye across each canvas, unveiling new details with every pass.

Sugarlift was established in 2014 in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood and has since moved to Chelsea. The mission of the gallery has remained consistent: to help more artists create sustainable careers by connecting them with a larger audience of collectors.

Over the years, the gallery has evolved, embracing technology and pursuing new ways for people to engage with and collect artwork. They are unafraid to change the status quo as long as it benefits artists and dignifies their work.
