Chashama Group Opening + Jazz Performance

This summer, High Line Nine presents programming with Chashama, an organization that partners with property owners to provide artists with space to teach, create, and present their work.

Join us as Chashama celebrates the opening of four concurrent solo shows by Sheryl Oppenheim, Philip A. Robinson Jr., Sebastien Courty, and Delvin Lugo. As a part of the evening, our partner, NADIA, an organization fostering diversity in the performing arts, will present live jazz music from 7-8 PM.

The four exhibitions are open until the end of August.

Opening Reception | Sheryl Oppenheim: Book Related

Join us for the opening reception of Sheryl Oppenheim’s “Book Related”, presented by Chashama.

The title of the exhibition refers to the connection between Oppenheim’s techniques and those used to make books— paper marbling, cutting, hinging, and gluing. Although her works on view are not books themselves, they are connected to the craft of bookbinding. The practice of making books is rooted in collaboration and community, and any space where the idea of a book is present ideally includes a multitude of perspectives. As part of the exhibition, a section of the space will feature a rotating mini-exhibition of independent publishers.

“Book Related” is on view in Gallery 9 from July 6th through August 27th.
