Stephen Towns: Glimpses of Americana
De Buck
October 11 - November 12
De Buck Gallery presents “Glimpses of Americana”, a solo exhibition by Baltimore-based artist Stephen Towns. The show features 13 works inspired by the themes of labor, resilience, and leadership, which have been focal points for the artist over the past few years. Featuring a selection of eight paintings and five quilt works, “Glimpses of Americana” expands on the historical narrative of enslaved and free people subjected to the hardships of early industrial America as People of Color and their perseverance through skill, determination, and acts of rebellion.
De Buck Gallery is a contemporary art gallery with locations in New York and Saint-Paul de Vence. It supports a vibrant program centered on identity-based work by emerging and mid-career artists primarily focused on figurative painting and innovative fiber art.
