For an entire year, Italian painter Daniela Astone rose each day at dawn to paint the sunrise. With the last rays painted just days before the exhibition opening, Sugarlift presents Daniela Astone: Sunrise: all 365 sunrises on view October 14 through November 13, 2021. Astone’s meditative undertaking asks, What does one day mean in the span of a year? How do we appreciate the serene moments during a year of such turmoil and disquiet? The enchanting power of morning light coupled with an entire year’s worth of creative output encourages us to embrace the passage of time.
