Ahmed Ahmed, ARBOREAL
July 3 - 30
Ahmed Ahmed to present debut exhibition “Arboreal”, dedicated to the life within the trees. A three series show, that tells a story about life in New York, sociological similarities with simians, and life through the eyes of Ahmed. Ahmed’s first person point of view and the anthropomorphic activities allows views to imprint and explore their relation to the digitally rendered world.
BIOGRAPHY
Ahmed Ahmed grew up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, the shy and timid middle child of five. in 2016 Ahmed exchanged NBA dreams for a photography class. With a new understanding of visual expression Ahmed jumped into teaching himself graphic design within his class, this progressed into Ahmed creating camoflage prints, two seemingly antithetical concepts, to represent himself to the world. Inconspicuous, yet entrancing upon further inspection.
Ahmed primarily operates as a digital artist, working with layers to recreate classic camouflage patterns and motifs with an emphasis of color. He uses laser cut acrylics to bring these renderings to life alongside a layering process that brings forth a third dimension to the typically two dimensional medium. Ahmed tests the brains capacity of pattern recognition with another medium, low poly. By reducing the necessary attributes for recognition to the absolute limit he derives the true essence of an object, alongside an aesthetically pleasing rendering.
